Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 24, 2026
Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what information FocusGuard ("we," "us," "our") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
- Account data: email address and authentication identifiers (if you create an account).
- Usage data: app names you choose to block, daily focus goals, streaks, and aggregated screen-time stats. This stays on your device unless you enable optional cloud sync.
- Diagnostic data: anonymized crash reports and performance metrics to help us improve the App.
FocusGuard does not collect the content of any blocked app, your messages, your contacts, your location, or your browsing history.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide and maintain core functionality (blocking, goals, insights).
- To sync your settings across devices if you opt in.
- To diagnose bugs, improve performance, and ship new features.
- To send transactional emails (password resets, billing receipts) — never marketing without your consent.
3. Data Storage & Security
Your settings live locally on your device by default. Optional cloud sync uses end-to-end encryption with industry-standard protocols (TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest). We use Firebase for authentication and storage and follow Google's security best practices.
4. Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your data. We share information only with:
- Service providers who help us operate the App (e.g., Firebase, Google Play). These providers are bound by data-processing agreements.
- Authorities when legally required.
FocusGuard contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party trackers.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, and similar), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
Exercise any of these rights by emailing privacy@focusguard.app. We respond within 30 days.
6. Permissions on Android
FocusGuard requests the following sensitive permissions only when needed:
- Usage Access — to detect which app is in the foreground so we can show blocking overlays.
- Display over other apps — to render the focus overlay.
- Notifications — to alert you when you hit (or miss) your daily goal.
You can revoke any of these at any time in Android Settings.
7. Children
FocusGuard is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be announced in the App or via email. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
